I didn't know there was a white bordeaux
As I mentioned in this and other videos, there is wine being made everywhere 😂 I'm so glad @jessicabw that I was able to share something new with you. I encourage you not only to try the white wines of Bordeaux, I also encourage you, if you can find any, to taste the white wines of Beaujolais. Being next door to Burgundy, Chardonnay is the grape used for Beaujolais White Wines. Cheers 🥂
I am only a few minutes in but wanted to drop in to tell that this is a banger! I really hope this series gets some traction,it is a really good idea..
Thank you @notoverlyacerbic9574 🙏 This was fun and funny for me doing this. You never know what to expect from an older bottle of wine 😉 Enjoy 🍷
Excellent review! I love them ! Specially the white.
Thank you @lindamartin632 🙏 My go to Summer Wines 🍷
So you prefer this to z Alexander's uncaged Cabernet Sauvignon?
Good question @JediSteak My feeling are that each wine stands alone. Also, the wines may be different from year to year. In short, I would have to taste them side by side in different years and decide then which one I would like at the time. 🍷
My knowledge of sherry can best be described as….oh yes. Zippo! 😉 I learn a lot from your channel. Thanks WWG!
Right on! @gdm8555 This is one of the many reasons I do this. Sharing the knowledge with love Cheers 🥂
I agree with your evaluation. This wise is one of my go to wines for the summer time.
It's always nice when Palates and Minds have a moment 🙏 Thank you for your support @randyreynolds8826 Cheers 🥂
Finally a great review WWG! I've been a fan of Chloe Pinot Grigio. Thanks
😂😂 I'm glad that I found a wine that you are already a fan of. As I said in the video, I passed on this for quite some time and am sorry that I did. Cheers @cvee2614 🍷
Love her wines
Excellent 👍
Having a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc too long? Yeah, that doesn't ever happen :) I know the bottle in front of you didn't stand a chance of being around too long lol. I have a heavy Cab (Erikson & Caradin - Raptor & Crimson) to review today, probably for my channel as well.
That is a true statement, the bottle didn't last long in my presence 😂😂😂😂 @TheDesertWineGuy
You are so correct on seeing the word "buttery" on a Chard label, I RUN for the hills. If there is one thing that I can't stand in American Chards is that buttery/vanilla note. Thank goodness the winery helps me save money with the wines name :)
😂😂😂😂😂 you are so funny But we are definitely in agreement on this one @TheDesertWineGuy
Yum!!
Thank you @bobloblaw2342 it it the spot 😋🍷
Sandwich sounds great and perfect with this Chardonnay! Curious about salmon spread….homemade? If you buy it premade I’d love more details. Great clip. (On a side note looks like you’re a snappy dresser even for a workout!😉)
Of course homemade @gdm8555 😂 Very easy to make. You saw the ingredients, I had some leftover salmon I cooked and turned into a spread. It's like making tuna spread or salad as people call it.
Oh! Thanks for the compliment 😁
Lovely presentation 🤗
Thank you @rachelsweets One of my off-the-cuff presentations 😂😂😂 Cheers 🍷
Another interesting review. So you owned a wine shop? Cool beans. Do you miss it? I’m not sure having grapefruit front and center appeals to me but 👍🏼👍🏼 from WWG? Gotta try it. ✌🏻
But I miss most is meeting people on a regular basis and hosting private events in my store with my wine club members. But I don't miss are those days when you didn't have any customers coming to the door 😂😂 This one knows why that a lot of people sleep on, because it's not a fancy brand so to speak. Was pretty decent for everyday drinking I feel anyway. Enjoy your weekend!
I was curious about the white. I prefer dry reds. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for watching @JadeOfSpades83 let me know what you think of it. Cheers 🍷
Sooo good. Heavy on the caramel. It practically coats the mouth with how heavy and rich it is. On the nose and from your review I expected it to be more fruity. Instead, my bottle was almost too smooth. I wanted a bit more vibrancy. OTOH it would have taken away from those ash/oak/caramel bourbon notes. I loved it. I want to pair it with a rich chocolate dessert, 😊
I can definitely taste this with Chocolate @lauraholst5688 🤤 I'm still trying to find the Pinot Noir to review. Cheers 🍷
Awesome,that sounds very interesting..
Thank you @noyoverlyacerbic9574
Added this one last Fall to our regular diet of Apothic Red. We stumbled on to it as we were trying out a Gnarly Head. It has a nice fruitiness to it , and is very drinkable with Cheese & Ritz crackers, as is the Trader Joe's Reserve Blend from Chile (for a couple of bucks more).
Excellent! @goofyvideos I'll have to look for this next time I'm at Trader Joe's 🍷
I’m an “almost vegetarian” so how a wine pairs with different vegetables is of interest to me. We do occasionally buy a rotisserie chicken and share the breast meat with our senior doggy as a treat. All in all, this was great info and I’ll have to try this Pinot Grigio. Thanks WWG and have a great weekend!✌🏻
That's awesome @gdm8555 glad to hear that you are mindful of what you eat. Vegetarian dishes are often missed when it comes to pairing wine. I did a review of an Organic French Merlot paired with a vegan stew/chili back in October. I'm not sure if you watched it or not. However, I will try to incorporate more vegan,/vegetarian dishes to pair with wine in the future. Cheers 🍷
do a hello kitty wine review please and have a good day
Looks interesting. I have to see if this is sold in market @corruptednut Cheers 🥂
trying the silk tonight with a caribbean style meal i’m preparing for my family
That should be nice! Which one are you pouring? @TheAmberGJ I'm so jealous 😂. You must share with me how the wine did with your meal.🙏
so this is so funny i had a guest come and when i told him i chose the wine by watching your youtube channel he said he watched your channel too! i made Coffee Brined Brown Sugar Bourbon Chicken Thighs & Salmon Mac n’ Cheese Steamed Cabbage Mashed Purple Sweet Potatoes Saffron Plantain Rice I paired it all with the Silk blend because he likes caribbean flavors and dry sweet wine. He also brought a rum cake he made for dessert which I ate while drinking the wine.
I can't believe that I missed this message. Sorry for the delayed response @TheAmberGJ That was a very funny story LOL!! That meal sounds delicious! Thank you both for following and watching my wine reviews. Cheers :)
Hi WWG. Hope all is well. Sounds like I need to try both of these. Thanks for another informative and easily understood review. 👍🏼🙂👍🏼
Hey @gdm8555 I hope all is well with you 🙏. With the holiday weekend coming, these will be good wines for grilling 😉 Cheers 🥂
Thanks for another solid review of available, affordable wines.
Thank very much @matthewbykowski2353 I really appreciate your feedback. Cheers 🥂
just found your channel from recommended. great vid, subscribed :)
Welcome aboard! @Fangl33t I'm glad you are here. I lots of playlists with different types of videos. Also there are several years of wine reviews of different brands and different vintages. Have fun! Cheers 🥂
Chateau St Michelle makes amazing wines in my opinion. I first discovered the Riesling varietal many years ago thanks to the winery, even before The Desert Wine Guy existed :) I totally credit the winery with introducing me to the varietal. By the way, I saw it here in "Freedom" Florida for $6.99 the other day. How can you beat that? You are totally correct in your comment about the dry wine drinker thinking the wine is too sweet. I reviewed the wine and didn't care for it because I felt it was still very sweet. Speaking of Honeycrisp, I just picked up 4 today. I never heard of them till I moved here but they are amazing... and expensive at $3 a pound :)
Agreed @TheDesertWineGuy the wines are and have been consistent every bottle I've had. It reminds me of the Kendall Jackson Vintners Rsv. Always consistent.
How funny about the apples 🍎 You need to get out more 😂 😂@TheDesertWineGuy
Like most wine guys I am sure you enjoy many different styles and varietals but out of curiosity what would be your 'on a desert island, can only take 2 styles/varietals' with you? For me it is probably a Barolo and Willamette Valley Pinot Noir..
That's a good question @notoverlyacerbic9574 but an easy one for me to answer 😂 Red: Merlot White: Chasselas (from Switzerland)
@@WisconsinWineGuycool. I have not heard of chasselas.. Awesome,I have a new rabbit hole to go down.. Is it comparable to any of the standard whites I would know? What does the sweetness level tend to be with them? *after I posted I did some Googling,I don't drink too many whites but I definitely want to try this.
I apologize for the delay @notoverlyacerbic9574 I guess I don't get notifications on my phone for all comments. The Chasselas is comparable to a Pinot Gris/Grigio or an unoaked Chardonnay. Were you able to find one?
@@WisconsinWineGuy no worries,I have not looked yet but I have added to my list.
Owned by Bogle Winery by the way :) If you get the chance, please review the 2022 Franciscan - Sauvignon Blanc ($12.99), I think you will enjoy it.
Thanks for the insight on Juggernaut Wines, @TheDesertWineGuy I'll look for the 2022 Franciscan SB in my market. I did notice that you reviewed it also. I'll wait to see if I find it before I watch your video 😉
@@WisconsinWineGuy I'd be curious to see if or how our palates match up.
The cabernet has been my friday night pizza wine for the past month. I really have been enjoying it.
Excellent! @michaelmadigan9856 I originally tasted the Cab a few years back before I started doing these wine reviews. I liked it then an enjoy it now. I wish I could remember the vintage 😂😂
Se toman fríos ? O temperatura ambiente
Hey @kevinalexisalcala3349 these are meant to be enjoyed all the way chilled ❄️ Hold on ice if having them on the patio with friends 🥂
I just found this at Sprouts and I must say this is good, Sangria(I bought red, btw). It's sweet but not too sweet, which I love, and has a bit of a dry finish at the end, which I really like, and after one glass, I definitely feel it. For the price point currently at $10.99, I feel this is a great find, definitely purchasing more.
Hey @IDKWDTHD I'm glad that you liked this 🍷🙏 With summer coming up, this can and should be your new "Patio Pounder" 😂😂 Thank you for your support 🙏 Cheers 🥂
Menage a trois And apothic are what got me into wine about 2 years ago, then I go back and retry the Apothic last week and it was way too sweet for me. What is up with that? Is this common, for your palate to change like that?
I have two answers for that @notoverlyacerbic9574. 1. Yes, your palate will change and the style of wine you'll like will change along with it. 2. The Apothic wines does have a bit more residual sugar in them. Which in my opinion sometimes changes vintage to vintage. Meaning, sometimes the same and sometimes sweeter. Cheers 🍷
Can you do a Top Red/White of 2023(4), etc?
@blake_7791 are you referring to what I've reviewed already? If so, here is a link to a short of my Top 10 most viewed reviews of 2023 ua-cam.com/users/shortsqKvUxPpYfdk?si=_9yORqMPNniQ66vk Cheers 🥂
Dude, you have me wanting a white wine right now. I don't feel like leaving the house today so I will be tasting a red instead, the 2018 Stags Leap, Petite Sirah. Did the wine have any carbonation to it?
That Stage Leap sounds amazing! Weather is changing and when it's hot out, I usually go for a White or Rose's . No carbonation. But you could always add Club Soda 😉
@@WisconsinWineGuy I was just curious because when you opened the bottle there was a fizz.
I love the Intrinsic red blend and cabernet. Will have to look for this one.
Excellent! @jen3365 Do do I. Which is what made me want to taste this one. Now, the line is complete 💯 Cheers 🥂
Faded frm the 𝒥𝑜𝓈𝒽😭😭👅💦
😂😂😂 @mfjeralf437 righteous. Cheers 🍷
Never had the wine but this is one of my favorite tunes!🎶✌🏻🎶
Party on! @gdm8555 🍷🥳
Definitely going to try it. I saw a review that mentioned picking up a sweet note so I passed on it. Wish I’d seen your review first. I trust you and will try it.
Thank you @galloarts for the trust. Everyone's palate is different. Which is why I always say "Let your palate be the guide". They have two other reds you should check out. Here is the link to my review of them. There is also a wine and food pairing video attached to the end of this review. Cheers 🍷 ua-cam.com/video/NDUcjB3iFtk/v-deo.htmlsi=CfdA3z0zUF5XEg-a
interesting. i would have never thought to check this one out. Now I may have to. Thanks for the review.
Excellent @matthewbykowski2353 Make sure that it's the Moscato di Asti not the plain Moscato. Also, let us know what you think of it. Cheers 🥂
@@WisconsinWineGuy I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks.
Many thanks for a thoughtful review!
Thank you @DonDiegoVega I'm glad that you liked it. Cheers 🍷
For a lot of people you can take Hawaiian Punch, put alcohol in it and sell it to them as a wine. These are the people (the target audience) this wine (?) is created for. So many people simply want to get drunk or they have alcohol issues and this line of wines fulfills both types needs or wants. While this doesn't apply to everyone who drinks this liquid, I do believe it sums up the core market.
When I had a wine shop @TheDesertWineGuy I made my mission to introduce my sweet wine drinking clientele to better quality wines that they would enjoy. These wines would be appealing to their sweet palate but balanced, both red and white. Sweet wine drinkers do make up the majority of the market, in addition to most newcomers start off drinking sweeter wines. Stella Rosa produces two Moscato's The one in this video, which is a Moscato di Asti and they're just simply labeled Moscato. If I'm drinking a Moscato I preferred coming from Asti. I also made it my rule when I have my store and doing videos, to not exclude sweet wine drinkers. There are those that only like and drink sweet wines. It doesn't mean that they can't be shown a better wine than drinking let's say, barefoot Moscato. But some like barefoot Moscato and I'm not mad at them for that. To me it's always let your pallet be the guide not what I say, but let your pallet guide you to the types of wines that you like. I actually have in the works to do a month of sweet and semi dry wines for those followers. And helping them understand sweet sugar versus ripe fruit as it relates to wine. Cheers 🍷
I just tried the 2017 Tempranillo, it was definitely a great wine for the price.
I didn't know they made a Tempranillo! I need to find this. Thanks for the insight and your support @jthomasaustin Cheers 🍷
@@WisconsinWineGuy I discovered it today at a local Woodman's grocery store, they have a huge wine section, I don't know what part of Wisconsin you're in, but I'm in the Eau Claire area!
I’ve had other Josh wines and enjoyed them but never this one. Looks like this should be next on my list to try. As always, thanks for the review WWG! 👍🏼
Good morning @gdm8555 the Josh wines are pretty consistent at this price point. If you haven't already, you should give the Joel Gott wines a taste also. Cheers 🍷
hi, i´m haer in 2024 just to let you know it stills a 3/4 it´s just a little bit more tart.... very engoyable
😂😂😂 Thank you for the update @salomonzertuche9808 and thank you for your support Cheers 🍷
Love your pairing videos because I get great ideas about both wine and food! Thanks WWG! ✌🏻🍷🙂
I really appreciate that compliment @gdm8555 they are fun to do. I also feel that, as you said " gives great ideas about wine and food" Cheers 🍷
They call them "Patio Pounders" because after you drink a bottle you can bang your head on the patio and not feel it... or care :)
😂😂😂😂😂 @TheDesertWineGuy Facts
great video!
Thank you @Julia-yo7cg I'm glad that you enjoyed the video 😁 Have you tasted this wine before?
Love the reviews of the more common wines. Have you heard of J Vineyards? Would love to hear your thoughts on that label
It was the 2016 Pinot Noir that I reviewed. I'll do some updated reviews for them. Cheers 🍷
